Valley View Retirement Community welcomes new CFO
BELLEVILLE — Embarking on a multi-million dollar expansion project over the next few years, the Valley View Retirement Community sought a veteran financial expert to join its leadership.
Last week, Valley View announced the hiring of Mindy Retherford as its new chief financial officer.
Retherford is a certified public accountant with an MBA degree from Penn State University and brings more than 20 years of finance and accounting experience in various industries, including hospitality, construction and manufacturing.
“Mindy joins our leadership team at a crucial time, as Valley View embarks on a $13 million expansion project to better serve older adults in our community,” Valley View Chief Executive Officer Nicole Sarver said. “Her involvement with the local community and her keen financial expertise makes her a great addition to our team as we look toward the future of Valley View.”
Retherford and her family live in Reedsville. They are deeply involved with Mifflin County youth sports as both of her children have competed and her husband has coached.
Retherford said that her new role as Valley View’s CFO was a calling. “I love learning about the history of Valley View, its deep roots in the community, and the impact it has had on so many families,” she explained. “I appreciate being on the team that will take Valley View into the next era by embracing change and ensuring a successful future.”
Scheduled for completion in early 2026, the large renovation project will include more private rooms, major enhancements to shared spaces, new electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and, most significantly, a dedicated Memory Personal Care Neighborhood aimed to serve those with cognitive needs with plans to open in Summer 2026.
The expansion project, which started in September, will not break ground but instead update the wings of the current building with new infrastructure and enhancements to upgrade existing levels of care and offer expanded memory care services.
