Local crews responded around 9:30 a.m. to a fire that was called in Wednesday morning at an unoccupied building at the north end of the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation plaza at state Route 103N in Lewistown, known as building 22. According to MCIDC President Nick Felice, a local scrap dealer was cutting out scrap when a fire broke out. No injuries were sustained. Damage to a roof and an electrical panel were reported. The fire marshal declared the fire accidental.

Local firemen worked to contain a fire at the MCIDC Plaza in Lewistown. West Granville Fire Co., City Hook and Ladder, McVeytown Fire Co., Heritage Fire Co., Burnham Fire Co., Milroy Hose Co., Chief Logan Volunteer Fire Dept., and FAME EMS responded to the scene. According to Junction Fire Co. Chief Scott Beers, crews remained on the scene for about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Damage was contained to the second floor and ceiling of the unoccupied building.
