Seminar to focus on mental health
LEWISTOWN — The Juniata Valley Employer Advisory Council will host a seminar on mental health in the workplace to be hosted at the PA Mifflin County Careerlink office.
The seminar is slated for 8:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 and features Michael Diller, PsyD and director of Wellspan’s employee assistance program.
In a news release issued by the Employer Advisory Council, they share that in the last two decades Americans have been experiencing increasing stress.
According to the news release, the biggest sources of this stress center around the future of our nation, violence and crime, social divisioness, personal finances, and our overall health.
These stressors can result in a number of things, including work ethic and how people show up for work.
With challenges and adversity comes opportunities to find and embrace keys to navigate through such stressors.
The seminar will include a presentation that is rooted in the belief that life can be beautiful and difficult at the same time.
“The good things about these seminars — we very much encourage people to bring their questions and comments in order to get answers and also for them to take part in open discussion,” explained Juniata Valley Employer Advisory Council Secretary Margaret Winters.
The Advisory Council invites all members of the community to join the seminar and leave with being more knowledgeable on how to handle mental health situations in the workplace.
To register for the event, email or call Margaret Winters at mwint1@
verizon.net. Cost to attend is $35, which can be paid at the door.
There will be a catered turkey dinner provided to attendees at the end of the seminar.
