Driver who hit officer identified
From staff reports
GRANVILLLE — McVeytown resident Brandon Detweiler was identified as the individual who struck 55-year-old fire police officer Troy Reinhart with his vehicle just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a report issued by Granville Township Police Department, the incident — which occurred at the intersection of state Route 522 Business and Peace Drive in Lewistown — is still under investigation.
The report says the fire department was on scene at Forest Hills Apartments investigating a possible electrical fire. Crews were leaving the scene when the incident occurred.
The report says fire police had shut down state Route 522 Business to assist fire equipment leaving Peace Drive when Reinhart, of Lewistown, was struck by a vehicle driven by Detweiler, 34, when he failed to stop.
Reinhart was transported to Hershey Medical Center by medical helicopter to be treated for injuries.
In a public post from Junction Fire Co., Reinhart is in critical condition at Penn State Hershey.
It was unclear as of Friday whether Detweiler was charged for his involvement in the incident.
