Flood watch in effect for region

From staff reports

LEWISTOWN — A flood watch has been issued for the region through Thursday morning, according to Phil Lucas, Mifflin County’s office of public safety director.

“This watch is based on predicted rain for our region, causing significant storm water runoff leading to small streams/tributaries running at bank full,” Lucas noted in a message sent to local media.

Lucas said Mifflin County residents can expect to see about 2 ¼ inches of rain over the next 48 hours.

Due to the large amount of rain falling to the west, the Juniata River is expected to crest at 22.8 feet Thursday afternoon.

Multiple roads are expected to be closed due to flooding adjacent to the Juniata River.

River Roads in Kistler, Wayne, Oliver township are all expected to see flooding, as is state Route 103 and similar locations.
