Greenwood Furnace offers family programs

HUNTINGDON — From the birds singing and trees budding to the fresh, soft scents and butterflies and bumblebees returning, nature delivers all kinds of signs to say winter is ending and spring has finally arrived.

Learn more about these and other aspects of nature with Greenwood Furnace State Park’s Families in the Forest series, starting Saturday, April 29 at the Huntingdon County park.

“The weather is getting nicer, the birds are chirping and it’s a great time to learn about the signs of spring,” Greenwood Furnace State Park Environmental Education Specialist Jen Moore said. “Join us to get outdoors and explore the park with your family.”

The first installment is “Sensational Signs of Spring” with Pennsylvania Master Naturalist Kristin Joivell, who has more than 20 years of teaching experience. She was recently awarded the Presidential Award for excellence in mathematics and science teaching.
