Man faces assault charges

LEWISTOWN — A 56-year-old man is facing aggravated assault charges after allegedly engaging in a fight.

Lewistown police were dispatched to South Main Street on Saturday for a reported fight in progress where one person was armed.

James B. Pridgen Jr., of Lewistown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan Reed on Aug. 6 on one count of felony aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and reckless endangerment.

The police report states that, upon arrival, officers learned the accused, Pridgen, actually possessed scissors, which he allegedly swung in a violent manner toward another person, in front of witnesses.

The victim suffered minor lacerations, according to police.

Pridgen is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $50,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Aug. 17 in Reeds’ office.
