Oct. declared Domestic Violence Awareness Month

MIFFLINTOWN — According to commissioner Alice Gray, Juniata County commissioners during Tuesday’s meeting were “very happy to move on” the authorization of payment to Tuscarora Township for reimbursement for work done on Willow Run Road bridge.

The bridge reopened thanks to a Tuscarora Township rehabilitation project on the structure. The reimbursement was in the amount of $25,496 and was paid with the county’s Act 13 Marcellus Legacy funds.

During the meeting, the commissioners also issued a proclamation making October 2021 “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.” Representatives from the Abuse Network, Rebecca Wills and Crystal Paige were present to accept the proclamation.

The commissioners also took the following action during the meeting:

¯Approved the Juniata County Hazardous Materials check No. 1397 in the amount of $106.72 – Wex Bank Fuel

¯Acknowledged the resignation of Vickie S. Cluck from her position as the Domestic Relations Section Administrative Specialist effective as of the end of business on Jan. 3, 2022.

¯Approved the “Contract Amendment and Extension Request for HOME Program Contract No. C000071400” as recommended by SEDA-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG)

¯Approved the 2022 Holiday Schedule for the Juniata Courthouse and Offices.

¯Reviewed the September 2021 departmental report: “Juniata County Probation’s Monthly Activities Report” as submitted by Michelle A. Beaver, Chief Probation Officer.

¯Approved payment of checks No. 62606 – No. 62641 in the amount of $48,104.93.
