Police: Local man suffers life-threatening injury in crash
LEWISTOWN — One man, who was the passenger in a truck, was flown to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of what police called “life-threatening” injuries sustained in a crash early Saturday morning in Derry Township, according to a report from Mifflin County Regional Police Department.
Police said at approximately 1:57 a.m. Saturday, emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Long Lane and Goss Road in Derry Township for a single-vehicle crash.
Police said a 2007 Ford Focus driven by 23-year-old Jacob T. Swartz, of Lewistown, was traveling east on Long Lane and failed to negotiate a curve in the road just west of the intersection. Police said the Ford traveled across the opposite lane, went off the roadway and sideswiped a parked truck trailer parked nearby, causing severe damage to the vehicle.
A single male passenger in the Ford, whose identity police did not release, was flown to Hershey for treatment of injuries police described as “serious/life-threatening” in a news release.
Police said the investigation is active and ongoing and plan to release additional details in the future.
