JCSD board affirms vote on mask-wearing

Fisher appointed as Region 4 member

MIFFLINTOWN – The Juniata County School Board voted to affirm actions taken at its Sept. 16 meeting regarding mask-wearing.

The vote taken during the board’s Thursday night meeting affirms a motion to accept the Aug. 31 mandate from Pennsylvania’s Acting Secretary of Health regarding face coverings exactly as written, with no additions as recommended by the Department of Health, and to include exemption requests from parents.

Additionally, student discipline regarding not wearing a mask will be removed from student records.

Also during the meeting, the board appointed Elizabeth Fisher as Juniata County School District Board of Directors member, representing Region 4, Walker Township.

¯In other business, the board approved:

¯Meeting minutes from Sept. 16 and Oct. 13.

¯Financial reports and bills to pay.

¯Facility use requests, including: Margaret Shafferman, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Juniata Elementary Sschool Cafeteria, Good News Club, Mondays, November 2021 to March 2022; Margaret McCann Shimp, Margaret McCann School of Dance, Juniata High School auditorium, Dec. 4 and June 4, as well as rehearsal dates.

¯Submission of PlanCon K to the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

¯Drivers Lois Himelright and Marilynn Garver.

¯Memorandum of understanding with TIU 11 for the provision of partial hospitalization services.
