From left, Steven Horner, Pennsylvania Deputy Secretary of Aging, and R. Patrick Fitzgerald, director of the Mifflin-Juniata Area Agency on Aging, light the cauldron to signify the opening of the 35th annual Mifflin-Juniata Senior Games on Monday morning at Kish Park in Burnham. The event was not held in 2020 and was moved from June until September this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Seniors can compete in more than 20 different events. In addition to Horner and Fitzgerald, speakers at the opening ceremony included Juniata County Commissioners Alice Gray and Mark Partner; state Sen. Jake Corman; Liz Kishbaugh, regional manager from Sen. Bob Casey’s office; and state Reps. John Hershey and Kerry Benninghoff. The games run through Friday.
