Police: Snyder County man dies in Mifflin County crash

Incident occurred late Saturday in Armagh, killed motorcyclist

From staff reports

MILROY — A Snyder County man died Saturday morning in a Mifflin County motorcycle crash, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.

Police said 39-year-old Ryan C. Barger, of Beavertown, was traveling west on U.S. 322 in Armagh Township when just before 10 a.m. Saturday, Barger failed to negotiate a left turn while moving at approximately 65 mph. Police said this caused him to travel toward the guide rail and eventually off the right side of the roadway, onto the berm before making contact with the guide rail head-on.

The motorcycle — a 2005 Harley-Davidson FXST Cruiser — came to rest against the guide rail while Barger suffered fatal injuries. Police said Barger was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Barger was pronounced dead at the scene by the Mifflin County Coroner’s office at approximately 10:04 a.m. The official cause of death has yet to be determined, police said.

Assisting police on scene were Reedsville Fire Co. and Milroy EMS.
