Local emergency service workers given dedication
Officials make proclamation for new week
MIFFLINTOWN – Praising their work and dedication to Juniata and surrounding counties, the Juniata County commissioners issued a proclamation designating May 16th through the 22nd as ‘Emergency Medical Services Week” Tuesday.
Mike French from Central Juniata Emergency Medical Services was on hand to accept the proclamation. French said CJEMS was caught off guard with the pandemic however were prepared thanks to Juniata County emergency services director Allen Weaver. “He’s been a godsend in getting us supplies and making sure we had supplies.” French said.
French also said a new air purification system was also installed at the station as well as a decontamination station to prepare themselves in between emergency calls.
Also, during the meeting, the commissioners reviewed the April 2021 departmental reports: “Sheriff’s Monthly Report” as submitted by the Sheriff’s Office; “Treasurer’s Report” as submitted by the Treasurer’s Office; Tax Claim “Cash Report” for the 1st Quarter of 2021 as submitted by Brenda J. Varner, Tax Claim Director; “Children and Youth Statistical Report” as submitted by Ashley J. Baxter, Children & Youth Director.
The following actions were taken during the meeting
¯Approved a revision to the ‘Probationary Period’ policy in the County Employee Handbook.
¯Approved payment of checks #61234 – #61271 in the amount of $98,428.69.
Due to the general election the Juniata County commissioners will not hold a meeting on May 18th.
