Mifflin Co. nears 10K fully vaccinated

No new deaths reported in 5 counties

Mifflin County is inching toward having 10,000 of its residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to data released Friday by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. There were also no new local COVID-19 deaths reported.

The health department shows there are 9,941 people fully vaccinated and another 3,787 partially vaccinated. People who are fully vaccinated have received both doses of a two-dose vaccine or a one-dose vaccine. People who are partially vaccinated have only received the first dose of a two-dose vaccine.

There were 29 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Mifflin County Friday, but large one-day spikes are often attributable to a “data dump” by which data from several days is entered into the system at once. Mifflin County has now had 4,939 cases of COVID-19 and 175 deaths.

Juniata County reported only six new cases Friday, putting its totals at 1,994 cases and 82 deaths. There are 4,286 people fully vaccinated and 2,122 partially vaccinated in Juniata County.

In Snyder County, seven more cases were added to the total which now stands at 3,422 with 82 deaths. In Snyder County, 7,156 people are fully vaccinated and 4,164 are partially vaccinated.

Huntingdon County had nine new cases for a total of 4,735 cases with 128 deaths. A total of 10,666 are fully vaccinated while 2,924 are partially vaccinated in Huntingdon County.

Perry County reported 14 new cases for a total of 3,453 with 94 deaths. There are 5,852 people fully vaccinated while 7,639 are partially vaccinated in Perry County.

Mifflin County has a total of eight COVID-19 patients hospitalized, one of whom is in the adult intensive care unit and using a ventilator to assist with breathing. In Huntingdon County, three COVID-19 patients are hospitalized with two in the ICU. No Huntingdon County COVID patients are currently using a ventilator, according to the health department.
