March 15 is local Art Day deadline
NEWPORT — The deadline for entries for the 2021 Perry County Council of the Arts Youth Art Day is March 15. Categories include dance, music, drama, visual art, video, literature, and graphic design. Readers may submit entries online at perrycountyarts.org/youth-art day.
A $2 fee for each entry applies. Public, private, and home-schooled students residing in or attending school in Perry County are encouraged to participate.
Youth Art Day is an annual showcase of visual art, music, and literary talent from students or residents of Perry County in kindergarten through 12th grade. The event generally features a large student art exhibition, music and dance performances, literature readings, kids’ activities, an artist demonstration and an awards ceremony. This year, Youth Art Day will be held virtually due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Food pantry to hold distribution
THOMPSONTOWN — The Juniata County Food Pantry will hold a distribution of food and other groceries for families who live at the eastern end of the county from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 20 at the Turkey Valley United Methodist Church on state Route 235 between Maze and Seven Stars.
To be eligible for any Juniata County Food Pantry distribution, families must meet certain income guidelines and reside in Juniata County. Those wishing to attend this distrubution must contact the food pantry between March 1 and 10 to make an appointment.
