Officials approve Children & Youth service agreement

Commissioners say yes to 2020 ‘9-1-1 Statewide Interconnectivity’ grant

MIFFLINTOWN – Tuesday the Juniata County commissioners approved the “Purchase of Service Agreements” as submitted by the Children & Youth Fiscal department. “These are a list of lawyers that need to be available for the Children & Youth department. They have different expertice. “ commissioner Alice Gray said. Gray also went on to comment that the commissioners review a list of lawyers as submitted by the department every year. “I think the importance of having this type of variety is it allows different skill levels of different attorneys and that way we know that each member of the family that is being is represented in one way or another Children & Youth everybody gets their voice and dealing with an attorney regardless with the family’s ability to pay. So it covers everybody.” commissioner Todd Graybill said.

Also during the meeting the commissioners approved the execution of the 2020 “9-1-1 Statewide Interconnectivity” grant. “This grant is a very important grant that 9-1-1 centers can communicate with each other and assist each other with their calls.” Gray said. The total amount of the grant award is $113,201.52.

During the meeting the following action was taken:

-Approve the following “Purchase of Service Agreements” as submitted by the Children & Youth Fiscal department. The terms for the agreements are January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2021 unless otherwise noted. Benjmin R. Yoffee, Esquire for agency solicitor services at an hourly rate of $87.55, Chrystal Prosser, Esquire for agency solicitor services at an hourly rate of $87.55, Ralph A. Germak, Esquire for Guardian Ad Litem services at an hourly rate of $75.00, David Wilson, Esquire for Guardian Ad Litem services at an hourly rate of $75.00, Zane Bilger, Esquire for Guardian Ad Litem services at an hourly rate of $75.00, Tammy Dusharm, Esquire for Guardian Ad Litem services at an hourly rate of $75.00, Barb Wevodau, Esquire for Guardian Ad Litem services at an hourly rate of $75.00, Jerry Philpott, Esquire for Guardian Ad Litem services at an hourly rate of $75.00, BMZ Law, P.C. for Guardian Ad Litem services at an hourly rate of $75.00.

– Approved the tax exonerations for Delaware, Fayette, Fermanagh, Lack, Spruce Hill, and Susquehanna Townships in addition to Mifflintown and Port Royal Boroughs as per the material provided.

– Ratified the Juniata County Hazardous Materials check #1376 for $64.54 – Wex Bank Fuel

– Reappointed Mr. Scott E. Fritz, President and CEO of Pennian Bank as an “Additional Representative” to the SEDA-COG Board of Directors for calendar year 2021.

– Reviewed the December 2020 departmental report “Children and Youth Statistical Report” as submitted by Ashley J. Baxter, Children & Youth Director

– Approved payment of checks #60330 – #60391 in the amount of $118,471.39.
