No open ICU beds in Mifflin County

There are no adult intensive care unit beds currently available in Mifflin County, according to data released Tuesday by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
According to the health department, there are 43 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Mifflin County with eight patients in the adult ICU and seven on ventilators to assist with breathing. The health department reports none of the 10 staffed adult ICU beds are available.
In Huntingdon County the story isn’t much better, as only one ICU bed is currently available, according to the health department. The county currently has 15 COVID-19 patients hospitalized with just one in the ICU. No COVID patients are on ventilators, despite the listing of a single available ICU bed. It is important to note that ICU beds are not reserved strictly for COVID-19 patients.
As for the daily data from the health department, Juniata County reported four additional COVID-19 deaths Tuesday and each local county reported at least one.
Juniata County has now had 65 total virus deaths. It reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, making that total 1,515 since the pandemic began.
In Mifflin County, there were two additional deaths and 26 new cases reported Tuesday. Mifflin County has had 3,824 cases and 131 deaths.
Snyder County reoprted 28 new cases and three more deaths for new totals of 2,196 cases and 53 deaths.
In Huntingdon County, 36 more cases were reported, as was one death. Huntingdon County has had 3,490 known cases and 93 people killed by the virus.
Perry County reported 29 new cases and one additional death. In Perry County, 2,067 people have had the virus and 53 have died from it.
