MCJHS and Academy closed due to COVID
Schools to stay closed for part of next week
From staff reports
LEWISTOWN — Two more Mifflin County schools will be closed for at least part of next week due to positive COVID-19 test results among students, Mifflin County School District and the Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology announced Friday.
The district and The Academy said the closures are to comply with Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines and announced the buildings will receive extra cleaning during the closure.
Both schools are tentatively scheduled to reopen Thursday.
MCSD said MCJHS students would engage in fully-remote learning Tuesday and Wednesday. Monday is a previously-scheduled off day for students. The Academy will also operate with remote learning on those two days.
Junior high students’ schedules for remote learning will be sent to parents and be made available on the MCJHS website. The Academy said paper packets for students who need them will be available for pickup beginning at noon Monday.
MCJHS provides instruction for students in grades 8 and 9.
Since the return to in-person instruction this week, it is the second MCSD building to temporarily close due COVID cases among students. The district announced Thursday that Strodes Mills Elementary School would be closed through Tuesday.
