LEWISTOWN — Two local school districts announced a combined three new positive cases of COVID-19 Wednesday.
Mifflin County School District revealed an employee at Mifflin County Junior High School and a bus driver who transports students to Indian Valley Elementary Center have both tested positive.
Chief Operations Officer Vance Varner said all those who were determined by contact tracing to have been in “close contact” with either individual have been notified and placed into 14-day quarantine.
MCSD reports six active COVID-19 cases within the school district as of 2 p.m. Wednesday — an employee at Lewistown Intermediate School, an employee at Mifflin County High School, an employee at MCJHS, one student at IVEC and two district bus drivers.
Also on Wednesday, Juniata County School District announced a student at East Juniata High School has tested positive for COVID-19.
The district administration said in the letter that the student was last in school on Oct. 22 and that the district has been in contact with the state Department of Health.
The district asked parents of students who have been evaluated and tested for COVID-19 to notify the school nurse and to keep the student away from school while awaiting results.
