Palko takes home Academy Alumni Award

Each week, The Academy is recognizing the recipients of our 2019-2020 Alumni Awards. Each of these individuals and businesses have made a significant impact on the school and the community. For over 50 years, the school has graduated students that have demonstrated the importance of service, the merits of hard work, and the value of career and technical education. The Academy appreciates MCS Bank for sponsoring this year’s awards.

The recipient of this year’s Service Award is not an alumnus of the school, but he truly exemplifies what the Service Award is all about. His dedication to the students, programs, and the school is commendable. Here are some of the ways he gives back: coordinating and hosting over 70 job shadows – including lunch, shirts, and other items, providing opportunities for 4 cooperative education students over the last two years, presentations to Futures classes, donation of 40 hard hats to the Building Trades and Mechatronics programs, had his company purchase Academy-branded hard hats for job shadows, donation of wire management brackets to the Electrical Installation program, a member of the Building Trades Occupational Advisory Committee, and a member of the Juniata River Valley Chamber Business and Education Committee. Finally, he participated in the 2019 Signing Day at The Academy enthusiastically celebrating seniors entering the workforce. For his outstanding service rendered to the school and our students, the Academy Award for Service goes to Denny Palko.
