PennDOT: Juniata County bridge on US 322 down to 1 lane

New local traffic pattern in place

MIFFLINTOWN — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that a bridge on U.S. 22/322 eastbound in Juniata County is now restricted to one lane due to the bridge being struck by a large piece of equipment.

The right lane of the bridge, which spans state Route 35 approximately one mile northeast of Mifflintown in Fermanagh Township, is closed until further notice. Concrete barriers are in place to enforce this closure.

According to PennDOT, the 109-foot bridge was originally built in 1972 and carries an average of nearly 7,500 vehicles per day.

PennDOT said questions concerning the use of this section of U.S. 22/322 can be addressed to the Department of Transportation at (814) 765-0495.
