LEWISTOWN — Chim chiminey, chim chim cher-ee!

Mifflin County High School will present the Disney version of “Mary Poppins” beginning Friday, complete with “magic, stunts and lots of dancing,” said Dianne Shearer, president of the Association of Mifflin County Educators.

Performances will be 6 p.m. Feb. 21 and 22 and 1 p.m. Feb. 23.

Attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets early as there will be assigned seats.

With “wonderful singing and fabulous props,” Shearer said the show is “well worth the money.”

Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children who require their own seat and can be purchased 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday at the high school auditorium or at the door until sold out.

Production merchandise will also be available for sale. The show will run about 2 hours and 45 minutes.

In Mifflin County’s performance, Gunnar Wagner will portray Bert. Gino Zannino and Anna Curry will portray George and Winifred Banks.

Jane Banks and Michael Banks will be portrayed by Halle Hertzler and Kohen Wertz.

Mary Poppins will be portrayed by Abi Liebegott.

Katie Nanna and Mrs. Cory will be portrayed by Kaitlyn LeFevre.

The drama students have been handling production, but several departments have contributed to the show.

Shearer said students in other departments have helped design props, while life skills students have helped prepare costumes. The art department has painted “truly amazing” sets, while audio visual students assist with light and sound.

“Teachers have also bent over backward to help kids prepare,” she said.

Community members have also contributed through fundraising efforts, a newly-formed Drama Club Parent Association has also provided support.

“We would like to thank everyone who has helped support the arts and the drama club and we hope we can continue bringing Mifflin County wonderful musicals each year,” said Shearer. “We welcome everybody to come see the production.”
