Local commodity food distribution scheduled
MIFFLINTOWN — Mifflin-Juniata Human Services has announced distribution of USDA Commodity Food through the TEFAP program will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. March 27 at Salvation Army, at 9 South Dorcas St., Lewistown and at Calvary Bible Church, 100 Calvary Lane, Lewistown (off the Burnham exit).
If supplies are completely distributed before 11 a.m., distribution may close early. Persons should bring their own box or bag for collection of food items. The county sponsors two distributions — one at Calvary Bible Church and one at Salvation Army. Participants are welcome to attend either distibution event, but may not attend both.
Persons eligible to receive food must meet the following gross monthly household income requirements:1 person, $1,561; 2 persons, $2,114; 3 persons, $2,666; 4 persons, $3,219; 5 persons, $3,771; 6 persons, $4,324; and for each additional household member, $540 a month. Participants of this program will be served without regard to race, color, sex, religion, nationality, age or physical disability. Photo identification and proof of local address must be presented.
