EJ music teacher will be honored
Local high school praises chorus director for service
MIFFLINTOWN –East Juniata High School’s band and choral director, Kevin Milliken, is being recognized by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association for 25 years of participation and success in its music program.
East Juniata High School Principal Wendy Jerrehian described the school’s continued success in the state music competition during the Juniata County School District Board of Directors workshop meeting on Wednesday.
Jerrehain congratulated the music and band departments at East Juniata for their success.
The principal continued, stating that Margaret Edwards, a senior, is earning a place at the All State Vocal Jazz Ensemble for the third year in a row.
“There are only 12 sopranos across the state that can make is and she earned a top spot for the second year in a row,” she said.
Jerrehain said Edwards is the only student from Juniata County School District to earn a spot at the Ensemble.
Additionally, she said that four students will be advancing to the regional PMEA chorus competition, held at Central Cambria High School later this month.
One student is advancing in regional orchestra and seven students will be advancing to the regional jazz competition, she said.
