Local man arrested, charged with trying to strangle woman

Walter, of Milroy, remains jailed at Mifflin County Correctional Facility

BURNHAM — Scott Alen Walter, 33, of Milroy, has been charged for choking an ex-girlfriend, according to Mifflin County Regional Police Department.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, at 4 a.m. Tuesday, a man contacted police saying his wife was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend Walter.

According to the affidavit, police interviewed the accuser. She was on her way home from her sister’s house when she was confronted by Walter. Walter kept asking to rekindle their romantic relationship, but she refused.

According to police, Walter struck her in the head with a blunt weapon and kicked her in the stomach while she was on the ground. Walter then began to choke her, according to the affidavit.

Walter is facing a felony charge of strangulation, a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and a summary charge of harassment.

Walter has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Nov. 20 before Magisterial District Judge Kent A. Smith.

Walter is being held at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $25,000 bail.
