Department of Agriculture awards special grant to the Friendship Fire Company
Funding given for Fire Co. parking lot
PORT ROYAL — Rep. Fred Keller, R-Selinsgrove, announced Thursday that the U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded $111,800 in Rural Development investment money to Friendship Fire Company No. 1 in Port Royal.
The award includes a $64,000 loan and $47,800 grant.
The money will go toward paving the fire company’s parking lot and installing a storm water system.
“I am proud that the United States Department of Agriculture has awarded this money to Friendship Fire Company No. 1,” Keller said in a press release. “We hear often when travelling across the district of the needs of rural first responders and this money will help bring improvements to the fire company needed to help ensure they remain a functioning resource for the community.”
