Juniata County bridge to reopen Friday
MIFFLINTOWN — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that a closed bridge on Old 22 Road will reopen Friday during the afternoon. The bridge spans Horning Run, near the intersection of Old 22 Road and Airport Drive. Crews have been working since mid-June to replace the bridge, which carries an average of 4,100 vehicles each day. Replacement will improve the rating of the bridge from poor to good.
Once the new bridge is open to traffic, the official detour around the work zone will be lifted. That detour has made use of Old 22 Road, state Route 35 and U.S. 22/322.
Cottles’s Asphalt Maintenance Inc. of Everett has been the contractor on this $1 million project.
With the bridge near Airport Road reopening, PennDOT reminds drivers that work continues on a second bridge near Cuba Mills Road.
