United Way kicks off Day of Caring
LEWISTOWN — The 2020 campaign for the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata began Wednesday with the annual Day of Caring.
On Wednesday, 430 volunteers participated in the community-wide outreach, including teams in both Mifflin and Juniata counties who went to community human services agencies, parks, ball fields, townships and playgrounds and put in a day of painting, building and landscaping at 36 sites.
The goal for the 2020 United Way campaign is set for $450,000.
“We were able to surpass last year’s goal because Mifflin and Juniata residents are caring and considerate individuals,” said Oksana DeArment, executive director of the local United Way in a press release. “Our communities are quick to lend a helping hand to their friends and neighbors in need.”
Individuals and companies alike are able to help their community through the local United Way by making a manageable contribution through payroll deductions or a one-time donation. All money contributed to the local campaign remains in the area.
Donations can be sent to the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, 13 East Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044, made by phone at (717) 248-9636 or made online at www.mjunitedway.org.
