Local teen killed in morning car crash

Police: 17-year-old’s vehicle rolled into a nearby field

GRANVILLE — A 17-year-old Mifflin County High School student was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle crash Friday morning in Granville Township, officials reported.

According to the Granville Township Police Department, Jarred A. Kearns was traveling north on state Route 103 when his vehicle left the roadway and rolled over into an adjoining field. During the crash, which took place just before 8 a.m., Kearns was ejected from the vehicle.

The Mifflin County Coroner’s office reports the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma.
