Sacred Heart of Jesus School will be offering half-day kindergarten for parents beginning with the 2019-20 school year.

LEWISTOWN — Sacred Heart of Jesus School is offering a new option for parents interested in registering their kindergarten-age child for school.

Now accepting enrollment for the 2019-20 school year, Sacred Heart is offering half-day kindergarten five days per week.

Parents will be able to switch their child to a full-day option at any time, said Lorie Torquato, Sacred Heart kindergarten teacher.

“A whole day at school is a long time for some students,” Torquato said. “There’s a large spectrum of development in kindergarten. Sometimes (the half day) option might help meet the needs of readiness.”

A full day of kindergarten is 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. while a half day is 8:15 a.m. to 12:20 p.m.

Torquato said all core curriculum will be covered in the morning and half-day students will be able to have lunch with their friends.

Transportation is available for residents of Mifflin and Juniata counties.

Scholarships and financial aid options are also available and students attending for a half day will receive a significant percentage off tuition.

Torquato said the school recently updated all safety equipment, including a new camera system, alarms, doors and an updated emergency system.

Sacred Heart encourages growth in religious awareness and appreciation of morals and values. It offers a small student/teacher ratio that allows for greater enrichment and individual attention.

To schedule a tour, or to register, call the school at (717) 248-5351. Registration can also be done at sacredheartschool.com.
