Bench warrant issued for Wagner

LEWISTOWN — A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of Derek Wagner, 26, of Lewistown, after he failed to appear in Miscellaneous Criminal Court Tuesday for a status conference.

Wagner is one of nine Mifflin County residents charged in connection to his involvement in a drug ring case, according to District Attorney Christopher Torquato. Charges of criminal use of a communication facility, intentional possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia were filed against Wagner in June 2018.

According to court documents, Wagner communicated with a Drug Task Force confidential informant via Facebook Messenger in June 2018 and stated he would be able to sell what police say were illegal drugs to the informant. However, Wagner did not meet with the informant to complete the delivery. Documents indicate the informant attempted to meet with Wagner a second time, but Wagner also failed to show up for the second meeting.

According to court documents, Wagner is scheduled for jury selection on July 1 for the July trial term.
