Man released after Rule 600 hearing

LEWISTOWN — Alan G. Bedlyon, 38, of Lewistown, was released Friday on nominal bail, following a Rule 600 hearing.

According to 234 Pennsylvania Code Rule 600, a criminal defendant is not to be held in pre-trial incarceration for more than 180 days from the date the complaint is filed. Documents state that Bedlyon was incarcerated on Oct. 7.

Judge Aaron Gingrich modified Bedlyon’s bail to $1 on the condition that he gets supervised by Mifflin County Probation and submit to a minimum of drug and alcohol testing.

In October, Bedlyon was charged with four counts, including one felony count terroristic threats, after wielding a weapon in a threatening manner at the Lewistown Lowe’s, according to court documents. Bedlyon was reportedly sitting in the Lowe’s parking lot in Granville Township and stood up, waved a large knife in the air, then walked toward the store with the knife in his hands, causing the manager to lock down the store and contact police.

The manager told police that Bedlyon had a hedge trimmer in his hands and was waving them around in a menacing way. Documents state that Lowe’s was locked down for approximately 10 minutes.

Documents state that police located a 12-inch knife, a hedge trimmer set, a hand saw and a variety of retail items with tags still attached to them in Bedlyon’s bag. Police reported attempting to speak to Bedlyon about the incident, however the interview was terminated after he admitted to using Methamphetamine and Xanex.
