Authorities: State College police officer shoots, kills man

STATE COLLEGE–An unnamed State College Police Department officer shot and killed a man Wednesday afternoon while attempting to serve a mental health warrant, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Rockview.

According to a press release from SCPD, at approximately 1:45 p.m., officers were at Marvin Gardens Apartments at 1013 Old Boalsburg Road to serve 29-year-old State College man, identified by state police as Osaze Osagie. While there, for reasons not yet identified, the SCPD officer fired his weapon, striking Osagie, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.

SCPD advised state police of the officer-involved shooting and requested that PSP conduct the investigation.

State police said an autopsy on Osagie is scheduled. SCPD said the involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, pending the investigation.

No further information has been released at this time.
