PSP investigates fatal vehicle fire

MCVEYTOWN–Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown are investigating a fatal vehicle fire that occurred Wednesday afternoon at Route 22 Self Storage in Mifflin County, according to police scanner reports.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:36 p.m., Wednesday, according to the Mifflin County Communications Center. Jayme Spickler, owner of the storage facility, confirmed that an out-of-state vehicle entered the property and “exploded,” causing damage to some of the storage units.

Spickler noted that the facility is currently working to contact renters and encourage them to check for possible damage to their storage content.

McVeytown Fire Co., Newton-Wayne Fire Co., West Granville Fire Co., McVeytown Ambulance and state police responded to the scene. State police have not yet released further information as investigation is ongoing.
