Burglary charges filed on two men

Documents say occupants were home at the time

LEWISTOWN — A Lewistown man was arrested after he allegedly broke into a Logan Street home while the occupants were present.

Aaron Reyes, 28, is in Mifflin County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail and facing felony burglary charges among others.

According to court documents, about 12:15 a.m. March 24, two men forced their way into the front door of 11 Logan St., unit 1.

One of the occupants, Arnaldo Ruiz, told police he “struggled with both males until Reyes was able to control him,” court documents say. Katie Laird, Ruiz’s girlfriend, was also present during the altercation.

The second man, who was not identified, then went into Ruiz’s bedroom and took his Playstation, a controller, a nunchuck controller, the chords and a game, valued at $500. Court documents say Reyes then let Ruiz go before fleeing from the residence with his accomplice in a gold-colored Ford Taurus.

Laird knew Reyes previously through her ex-boyfriend and said he had just been released from Mifflin County Correctional Facility.

On March 28, Laird and Ruiz identified Reyes at the Lewistown Police Department by looking through photographs of possible suspects.

Reyes waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Friday and is awaiting a formal arraignment scheduled for Aug. 29.
