Annual Polar Plunge set for Jan. 16
GREENWOOD FURNACE – The Third Annual SnowFest and Juniata Valley YMCA Polar Plunge is going to be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 16, on the beach at the Greenwood Furnace State Park.
The event has grown to include many activities throughout the day, including broomball, ice skating, free snowshoe trials, educational programs, a beach bonfire, winter camping, ice harvesting, animal tracks, fire starting and more.
New this year is a five-mile trail run. Registration for the race is from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Pavilion 7, with the race starting at 11 a.m.
The centerpiece of the event will be the polar plunge, slated for 2 p.m.
The Friends of Greenwood Furnace also will have hot soup and coffee available for purchase.
