HARRISBURG — Marissa Woodward of Honey Grove swept Supreme Champion and Youth Showmanship Champion at the 2022 PA Farm Show Youth Poultry Show.

A winner from each class of large and bantam birds advances to the winner’s circle. From this elite group, the Supreme Champion and Reserve are selected. Woodward won Supreme Champion and Grand Champion Large Chicken and Overall Champion in Poultry Youth Showmanship.

In the showmanship contest, exhibitors are judged on their breed knowledge and their handling and management skills.

Beyond physical cleanliness and presentation, birds must exhibit proper breed character and be the right size and weight for their breed. Before the show, exhibitors spend time working with their birds at home so they are calm while being held in front of the judge.
