Donald Clark, center, is presented an Outstanding Service Award by the Juniata County Agricultural Society. Presenting the award is Clarence Allen, left, veterans chairman for the Juniata County Agricultural Society, and PA State Rep. John Hershey. Clark was given the award in recognition for an outstanding job managing the Fair Board and Port Royal Speedway and his dedication to the Juniata County Agricultural Society. As the president--- of the Juniata County Agriculture Society, Don recognizes how farming over the years has led to agriculturally based societies, in which people settled and in the early development of Juniata County, primarily only had contact with other farmers. Today the challenge he has, is messaging the importance of agriculture is threatened and lessened by the high cost of land and equipment therefore, Don has to be more creative in keeping the interest in agriculture to both farmers and non-farmers. He has to maintain a balance and recognize the importance of what both the large and small suppliers of agriculture has to offer and have that message presented in the displays and shows during the fair. Don has been a key player and one of the reasons the Juniata County Fair is one of the leading successful fairs in the state. Don, we want to show our appreciation for all you do with this award.
