Latest audit: PSU paid $93M to 33 Sandusky accusers
UNIVERSITY PARK (AP) — Penn State’s latest audited financial statements show it has settled with one more sexual-abuse accuser of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, bringing the total payout to $93 million to 33 people.
The statements cover the fiscal year that ended June 30.
WJAC-TV reports the statements show the university has paid nearly $20 million in legal fees relating to internal investigations in the past two years and its insurers have paid $30 million relating to the scandal. The figures reported Wednesday don’t include a recent $2.4 million fine by the U.S. Department of Education over the university’s handling of sex abuse allegations against Sandusky.
