Spikes set to host All-Star Game

STATE COLLEGE — Central Pa. will be in the spotlight next August as the State College Spikes will host the 2018 New York-Penn League All-Star Game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

The event makes its return to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, located on the campus of nationally renowned Penn State University across the street from storied Beaver Stadium.

“We are proud to once again host the NYPL All-Star Game and showcase the best of what Central PA has to offer,” Spikes General Manager Scott Walker said. “We are looking forward to working together with all of the members of our Central PA community to put together an extravaganza that will bring people from across our region and the baseball world together for a one-of-a-kind experience.”

The announcement was made by the New York-Penn League Tuesday during the 2017 NYPL All-Star Game at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, NY.

The All-Star Game is the second to be held at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Spikes also hosted the NYPL’s 2009 Midsummer Classic in Central PA.

Medlar Field at Lubrano Park serves as the home of the Spikes and Penn State Baseball, and hosts over 100 events annually. The ballpark also serves as a community meeting place with many charitable endeavors highlighting the schedule.

Ticket information for the All-Star Game will be announced at a later date.
