McVeytown pitching trumps Belleville

BELLTOWN — McVeytown used a strong pitching performance to stop Belltown, 14-0, Wednesday night in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League. The win along with Belleville’s put the two teams tied for first place with 5-2 records.

Eli Pennebaker threw four innings and Hunter Bailey finished off the shutout for the two-time defending league champions. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Pennebaker struck out four, walked one and gave up just one hit, a single to Riley Bilger. Bailey gave up no hits in his inning of work.

Tucker Gill led the McVeytown hitting attack with two singles. McVeytown finished with eight hits. Pennebaker and Josh Bomberger each had doubles for McVeytown.

Strodes Mills 9

LEWISTOWN — Belleville forged a tie for first place with McVeytown with a 20-9 win over Strodes Mills.

Strodes Mills mounted a comeback in the fifth and sixth innings by scoring eight runs. The game ended after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Belleville’s Josh Bryson got the victory as he went the first three innings for the Big Valley club. Bryson gave up just one run, three hits, struck out four and walked two.

Landen Eichhorn led the Belleville attack with three hits and Skyler Jacko finished with two. Belleville had just six hits.

Strodes Mills had eight hits with Isiah Alters and Gage Sunderland each getting three. Sunderland and Alters each had doubles.
