McVeytown dominates Strodes Mills
MCVEYTOWN — It didn’t take long for McVeytown to bounce back from its loss to Belltown on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, McVeytown scored 11 runs in the first inning and crusied to a 14-1 victory over Strodes Mills in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League. The game ended after five innings.
McVeytown only had three hits in the first inning as Strodes Mills gave up seven walks. Tucker Gill had a two-run double and Josh Bomberger had two doubles in the first inning that drove in four runs.
The winners finished with nine hits. Logan Stimely had two hits and Eli Pennebaker also had two including a double. Isaac Wilson capped the big night for McVeytown with an RBI double in the fourth.
Pennebaker went the first four innings for the winners as he gave up just two hits. He struck out two and had one walk. Hunter Bailey pitched the fifth.
Strodes Mills finished with four hits. Bradyn Eversole, Tyler Hunter, Gage Sunderland and Aaron Grassmyer each had base hits for Strodes.
Reedsville 9, Belltown 6
BELLTOWN — The last time Reedsville traveled to Belltown, Belltown stunned the visitors.
When Reedsville made its second trip into Belltown, the result was much different.
Reedsville pulled away with five runs in the fourth inning for a 9-6 win.
Zach Williams started for Reedsville, but he went only two innings. Belltown led after two, 3-1.
But, Cody Bickhart came in and did the job for Reedsville as he went the last five innings. He struck out 11, gave up just three hits and walked four.
Belltown had seven hits including doubles from Dylan Zellers, J.P. Pannizzo and Zach Bodley.
Reedsville only had five hits, but two of them came in the fourth inning when it scored five times to take the lead. Brody Schnell had a single and Christopher Russell had a double around three walks.
Beaver Springs 8, Lewistown 4
BEAVER SPRINGS — Beaver Springs jumped out to a big lead after three innings and then held off Lewistown, 8-4.
Kevin Bender got the win for the Springs as he ptiched three and two third innings.
Lewistown had five hits with Aaden Earnest being the only multiple hitter with two. Ryan Hine had a double and Deakon Schaeffer smashed a triple.
Beaver Springs also came up with five hits with Matthew Weimer getting two including a double. Trevor Sheaffer, Aidan Everly and Jesse Herman added singles to the winning efforts.
Milroy 3, Burnham 1
BURNHAM — Burnham finally got to play a home game and it went extra innings. Due to recent rains, Burnham has been on the road, but on Wednesday it played at home and fell to Milroy, 3-1, in nine innings. Milroy scored two runs in the top of the ninth to pull out the win.
Milroy only had three hits, but Hector Maldonado was the hero for his team as he came up with a two-run single in the ninth. Anson Wagner and Ryan Esh also had base hits for Milroy.
Esh went the first seven innings for the winners. He struck out five, walked one and gave up two hits. Ian Hartzler got the win with two scoreless innings of work.
Burnham only had four hits as Xavier Smith had two including a double. Rylan Bailey and Landon Black had the other hits, both singles.
