Tigers land 4 stars, coach

After going 16-0 for ther season, East Juniata had four Tri-Valley League all-stars in Will Orwig, Tanner Barth, Max Lauver and Colby Breeding.

Orwig, a sophomore, was the league MVP. He led the TVL with an average score of 80.88.

“He certainly improved from his freshman year,” Tigers coach Mike Zendt said. “He is defintely a leader on our team.”

Orwig went on to win the District 4 Class 3A championship as well as making an appearance in the Eastern Regional and the PIAA championship.

Freshman Barth finished third in the TVL with a scoring average of 86.88.

“Very good, solid player — put in a lot of work over the summer,” Zendt said. “He is only going to get better.”

Senior Colby Breeding came in fifth with 90.50 and freshman Lauver placed sixth with 94.13.

“(Breeding) came in hered, it was his first year in golf, he was solid and always in my top four,” Zendt said. “Max played well. He improved a lot throughout the season which I was very happy to see.”

Zendt was given the honors of being the TVL’s coach of the year.

“I owe it to all the players they had a great season,” Zendt said.
