Lehman scored all three of the Indians’ goals in the first half and had the team’s first four goals overall.

“It was good to be able to have a performance like this going into district playoffs,” Juniata coach Jared Byler said. “A total team effort from everyone.”

Juniata (11-6, 9-5) will next play in the District 6 Class 2A tournament.

Field hockey

Greenwood 3, Newport 0

ELLIOTTSBURG — Greenwood made the most of its corner game Wednesday in a 3-0 win over Tri-Valley League and county rival Newport.

The two met on West Perry’s artificial-surface field, a good tuneup for the District 3 tournament. The two met in districts and states at that site last fall.

Greenwood (16-1, 8-0) wrapped up a perfect league season a night after clinching its 11th straight TVL title.

Kenedy Stroup was involved on two goals, both assists. Freshman Emma Ralston had the first, and game-winning, goal.

“She’s involved in a part of our corner game. She got the ball off the pads and made a nice play,” Greenwood coach Kent Houser said.

Greenwood, the likely top seed in the district, will have a bye before its first contest.

ICC Championships

MOUNT UNION — Mount Union’s Emily Boozel placed sixth and helped the girls take fifth place with 137 points in the Inter-County Conference cross country meet.

The boys also finished fifth with 118 points.

Both races had 11 teams participating.

Boozel finished in 22:56 and left Trojans’ coach Bob Wydock excited for the potential that’s in store.

“I’m extremely pleased with the way Emily ran today,” he said. “She ran her personal best and she’s a third-year runner so we’re looking for good things down the road.”

The boys placed three — Bryce Beatty, Briar Stone and Aiden Hollibaugh — in the top 20. Beatty finished in a team best 18:51.

“With the wet conditions and cool temperatures, all the boys and girls ran their best today,” Wydock said. “They had good competition and put forth their best effort.”
