MOUNT UNION — Weather has played a role in a lot of regional sporting events and it did the same for Mount Union on the links.

After a washout Tuesday the Trojans split the day with Everett, won Wednesday’s Inter-County Conference golf match with a score of 397. Mount Union carded a team score of 444 while Tussey Mountain shot 524.

Trey Heffelfinger led the way with a 74 while the team suffered a major break in the scoring as Nick Pearce (110), Griffin Scott (129) and Matt Secrest (131) rounded out the Trojans’ scoring.

“The weather has limited our practice time and it was awfully wet out there. It was wet for everybody,” Mount Union coach Matt Fiscus said. “I was a little disappointed. I thought we’d play well at home today, but the weather limited our production. We have three tough matches next week. I’m hoping we can turn it around, but the competition doesn’t get any easier.”

Mount Union (2-5) participates in the Tee Off Against Drugs Tournament Monday.
