Belleville wins, back in front

MILROY — Belleville took advantage of Reedsville and the schedule to jump back into first place in the Mifflin County Babe Ruth League.

Belleville downed Reedsville 15-5 and now has a 7-1 record. McVeytown, which was idle, is a half game back at 6-1.

The Big Valley club had nine hits and three of them came in the last inning when it scored six times. Regan Ettinger, Zach Snook and Brady Handy all had base hits in the seventh. The only multiple hitter for Belleville was Matt Kauffman with two.

Three Belleville pitchers gave up eight hits to Reedsville. Zach Williams and Wyatt Howell each had two.

Josh Bryson picked up the win for Belleville with three innings of work. He struck out one, walked one and gave up three hits.

Burnham 16, Lewistown 5

LEWISTOWN — Burnham downed Lewistown 16-5 thanks to walks, wild pitches and errors. The game ended after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Landon Black, a 14-year-old, started on the mound for Burnham and got the win. He went three innings, struck out seven, walked one and gave up two hits. Another 14-year-old closed for Burnham, Rylan Bailey and he gave up two runs and one hit.

Black would have had an excellent outing if it wasn’t for his six wild pitches.

But, Lewistown, which had a three game winning streak snapped, also played give away as it gave up eight runs on errors and wild pitches. Lewistown also walked eight men.

Three Burnham players had multiple hits, Brando Souders, Conner Zimmerman and Black. Black had the only extra-base hit in the game, a double in the second inning. It was in the second that Burnham took control of the game scoring eight times.

Jimmy Kenepp had two of the three hits for Lewistown. He drove in his team’s final run with a single in the fifth inning. Ben Yingling had Lewistown’s only other hit, a single.

Beaver Springs 18, Belltown 3

BELLTOWN — Beaver Springs continued its hot streak as it won its sixth game in its last seven with an 18-2 win over Belltown in five innings.

The Springs’ only setback in its last seven games occured Sunday against Lewistown.

Kevin Bender pitched the first three innings and nailed down the win. Jullian Kraniak closed out the game for Beaver Springs. The two combined for a five-hitter.

Belltown picked up base hits from Isiah Alters, Darion Molek, Nick Goss and Brysin Ulicne. Ulicne finished with two hits including a double.

Beaver Spring finished with 17 hits as Gavin Portzline, Trey Wagner and Bender each had three hits. Tucker Snook and Jason Kratzer each had two hits for the Springs.
