LEWISTOWN — It came down to the wire, but Juniata came away the winner over Mifflin County, 3-2, in a nonleague tennis match Friday.

The Indians posted a lead in the singles competition, winning two out of three and by decent margins. Tristan Amey allowed only two games to John Hurlburt at No. 1; Seth Strawser just one more as he made it 2-0 in the second spot.

Kenny McNitt prevented it from being a sweep when he gave the homestanding Huskies the third singles win.

After Mifflin County won the second doubles in straight sets to even the team score, the teams had to watch the first doubles play out. Juniata’s Colin Mianulli and Jessen Abram came through, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 overt Ian Herbertson and Connor Ughetto in the hardest-fought match.

“Both teams played hard so it was a good match,” Mifflin County coach Glenn Kyle said.

The Huskies (3-10) play an odd doubleheader Monday, starting at Carlisle then heading to Red Land to face Lower Dauphin. Juniata visits Tussey Mountain for two on Thursday.
