Huskies cruise past Harrisburg

HARRISBURG — Mifflin County dropped the hammer on Harrisburg, scoring seven falls in its 57-23 Mid-Penn Conference wrestling win over the Cougars Thursday.

Kross Todaro had the fastest win of the meet for the Huskies at 220 pounds, where he pinned Nazeir Morrell in just 23 seconds.

Other wrestlers who picked up falls for the Huskies were Trey Kibe (152), Trent Hidlay (182), Andrew Weaver(106), Josh Snook (126), Logan Wise (132) and Brycen Hassinger at 145.

The Huskies gave up pins at two weight classes, plus a forfeit and a technical fall.

Mifflin County travels to Dallastown Duals Saturday.

Line Mountain 60, Juniata 24

MANDATA — Juniata gave up nine falls in its 60-24 loss to Line Mountain in a Tri-Valley League wrestling match on Thursday.

After losing those first nine matches, the Indians responded with three straight falls of their own with Tyler Wileman scoring a pin in just 55 seconds at the 160 weight class.

Jared Heister (170 pounds) and Garrett Gabel (182) were the other winners.

Juniata hosts nine other teams including state-ranked Saucon Valley in the Juniata Duals on Saturday.

Girls basketball

Greenwood 57, Halifax 32

MILLERSTOWN — Every player scored at least one basket in Greenwood’s 57-32 victory over Halifax in a Tri-Valley League girls basketball game Thursday.

“It was a solid team win,” Wildcats coach Jeff Deitz said. “Our girls are starting to come together and execute on both ends of the floor. We’ve been able to take four of our last five due to increased discipline and attention to details. We were happy with our performance tonight.”

The Wildcats made their presence felt in the second quarter with 23 points for the frame.

Mallory Kauffman led the way with 19 points in the game.

The Wildcats also won the JV game 36-23 with Abby Taylor scoring 12 points.

Greenwood (5-6, 4-1) travels to Lancaster Country Day Saturday.

Xavier Clement led the Tigers with 12 points while Wayne Dressler scored 10.
