Mifflin County rallies from down two

LEWISTOWN — After going down 2-0 on a pair of Sydney Routch goals, Mifflin County rallied, getting four goals from four different players to win 4-2 over Hollidaysburg in a non-league girls soccer game Thursday.

Jessica Bickhart scored a goal and had an assist, McKenna Smith scored on a penalty kick and Emily Bielski and Sydnee Kammerer each added goals as the Huskies ended the season with a victory.

The JV game was a 1-1 tie; Sophie Underhill scored for the Huskies.

Mifflin County ends its season at 2-15-1.

Boys soccer

Juniata Mennonite 8,

Calvary Christian 1

DUNCANSVILLE — Brad Davis’ three goals along with an assist led the charge for Juniata Mennonite in an 8-1 win over Calvary Christian in a first-round Allegheny Christian Athletic Association boys soccer tournament game Thursday at Blair County Christian.

Tommy Allen had a big contribution scoring two goals while Anson Portzline had a goal and collected an assist. Ashton Martin and Micah Reinford scored a goal apiece.

The Lions (9-3-1) play Great Commission, the top team from the ACAA West, in a semifinal today at 4 p.m.

Midd-West 1,

Mifflinburg 0

MIDDLEBURG — Midd-West clinched the Heartland Athletic Conference Division II title with a 1-0 win over Mifflinburg in booys soccer Thursday.

Carter Knepp scored the only goal in the game.

The Mustangs also won the JV game 1-0.

Midd-West (14-3-1, 8-1-1) awaits an opponent in the District 4 Class AA tournament.

Forbes Road 3,

Belleville Mennonite 0

BELLEVILLE–Forbes Road was too much to handle for Belleville Mennonite as the Thunder fell 3-0 to the Cardinals in their final game of the season Thursday.

“We’re just hoping we learn and grow for next year,” Thunder coach Brian Renno said. “Hopefully that the foundation we build this year will move over to next year.”

Belleville Mennonite ends its season at 1-15-1.

Field hockey

Mifflin County 1,

Lewisburg 1 (OT)

LEWISTOWN–Marcella Pupo scored the game’s first goal for Mifflin County, but the Huskies couldn’t muster anything else in a non-league overtime game against Lewisburg that ended 1-1.

Izzy Zaleski scored the Dragons’ game-tying goal later in the first half with Team USA prospect Cassie Sumfest getting the assist.

Huskies’ goalkeeper Selena Breneman had 14 saves, most of them coming in the second half and overtime to keep the game tied.

Mifflin County’s JV team lost 3-2. Cassidy Wilson scored both of the Huskies’ goals.

The Huskies will play for the District 6 Class AAA title at Bald Eagle Area Wednesday.

East Juniata 4,

Huntingdon 0

HUNTINGDON–Four goals in the first half was all that East Juniata needed in its 4-0 shutout over Huntingdon on Thursday.

Tara Feltman led the Tigers with two goals. Laney Dowling had a goal and an assist.

East Juniata ends its regular season (9-8-1, 5-5) and will head to the District 4 playoffs.
