Huskies fifth in golf opener
From staff reports
GOLDSBORO – Mifflin County’s Kyle Harshbarger shot an 87 to open the high school year in the Huskies’ opening match, but his team-leading effort was 13 strokes off the lead as Cumberland Valley had the low card at the end of the Mid-Penn Commonwealth match.
Red Land, which hosted the match at Valley Green, was even with the Huskies but won the tiebreaker to take fourth place.
Mifflin County, which shot 453 as a team, had three players at 90 or below, including Nate Koller (89) and Evan Seby (90). Problem is, the Eagles had six players below 90, starting with medalist Robert Falconer, who carded a 74. The fives best scores count for each team.
Mifflin County’s other scoring players were Tee Fleck (93) and Matt Short (94). The tiebreaker went to Red Land by two strokes in the sixth position. Mechanicsburg and Northern finished above Red Land.
